'Manor' Townhouses Suited To Luxury Living
Tucked into an enclave, close to the shops of historic downtown Unionville and with two golf courses surrounding it, the townhouses of New Yorkton are promoted for their location and luxury features.

The new project from Kylemore Communities, already well-known in the Markham area for the Angus Glen community, will have just 70 brownstone town "manors" and bungalows on 45-foot lots.

"There's been a lot of interest from people who have lived in the area for 20 and 30 years and are looking to sell their big homes, but want to keep the same luxurious setting and neighbourhood," explains Kylemore president Patrick O'Hanlon. "It's an infill property on the north side of 16th Ave., adjacent to the York Downs, Angus Glen golf courses and the Village Grocer. Everything's accessible by foot."

The neighbourhood boasts tree-lined boulevards, parks and a shopping complex.

The brownstone town manors range from 1,875 to 2,530 square feet and start from the mid-$400,000s. Mindful that many buyers will be downsizers looking to maintain a luxury lifestyle, O'Hanlon says the towns will have the same quality of design, finishes and workmanship as larger homes.

The townhouses will have large, open kitchens with breakfast bars and islands, great rooms, media rooms, dining rooms and choice of main floor or second-floor laundry rooms. Features include nine-foot, coffered and cathedral ceilings on the main floor, optional two-sided fireplaces, his and hers walk-in closets and butler's pantries. All towns have double-car garages.

"What we've tried to do with the designs is recess the garages and have them at grade level, to create an attractive streetscape. This won't look like a regular townhouse community," says O'Hanlon.

While there will be appeal for empty nesters, O'Hanlon says the towns will also likely appeal to young professionals and empty nesters.

The detached homes on 45-foot lots range from 2,650 to 3,450 square feet and start from the mid-$700,000s. Decorative columns and arches, nine-foot main-floor ceilings, optional coffered ceilings and his and her walk-in closets are just a few of the features. Kylemore's customization program also offers buyers the freedom to personalize their homes to meet their particular needs.

For commuting, New Yorkton is close to highways 407, 404, and 401 and the GO transit station is nearby.

Today, Kylemore Communities is celebrating the grand opening of the New Yorkton sales centre. The sales office is at 4476 16th Avenue (northeast corner of Kennedy and 16th Ave.).

Hours are Monday to Thursday 1 to 7 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday and holidays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed Fridays.
